FARMFEST RETURNS TO SOMERSET AFTER SELLOUT YEAR

The naughty but nice festival boasts confidence with an eclectic lineup of artists with plenty of daily activities to match

Farmfest 2022 will have a swirling musical orchestra of some of the best new and established left-of-mainstream performers on the scene. Over 100 acts in the electronic, indie, folk, and world music genres have been booked to entertain 5000 visitors for that intimate festival feel. Curated by Head of Music Stu Matson, the festival manages to brilliantly combine everything from early morning workouts to lively kids workshops, riotous jumbles of jazz, brass-based bonanzas, stand-up comedy, and poetry. Taking place on Friday 29th & Saturday 30th July 2022, Farmfest’s 15th year will see headliners Elder Island, Joy Orbison, and Gentlemen's Dub Club. There’ll also be some opportunities for the adults to kick back with the Kanga Spa and Wellness retreat while the kids will have plenty to do in Kids Kingdom. Adult tickets are currently £99, teen £66 with children under 13 being free. Further information HERE.

Farmfest began as a get-together of friends and has remained that way for the past 15 years. It remains wholly self-funded and ad-free, so you won’t see inflated ticket prices from this homegrown event. Expect a mix of music from up-and-coming artists, cult heroes, and local treasures, as well as inspiring arts activities, amazing charities, and delicious local fare, all set against a stunning Somerset backdrop.

Elder Island, the genre-defying Bristolian dance trio head up the live acts with their instrumentally diverse web of sound, touching on house, synthpop + neo-soul. UK underground-electronic sweetheart Joy Orbison helms our rave zone, The Den, with his nostalgic mesh of club sounds long into the night. Known for their chaotically carnival-like live shows, Gentlemen's Dub Club will be bringing the party to the Main Stage.

Beyond the headliners, Farmfest’s support acts look just as enticing. On the live side we see Do Nothing, BCUC, Ishmael Ensemble plus plenty more filling all hours of the day and night. DJs Jamz Supernova, Channel One and DJ Fett Burger support on the electronic side. Reliable providers of conscious soul/disco and global-inflected grooves Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy, Mr Bongo, Mafalda and Poly-Ritmo will be soundtracking the dancefloor. Not forgetting Sinkane, The Mauskovic Dance Band, Pip Blom, Sophie Hunger, Broken Bass, Penelope Isles, Too Many T's, Agbeko and Plastic Mermaids taking up the stage. And honorable recognition of Ivan Smagghe & Chez De Milo, Danielle, Grove, Joe (Hessle Audio), guardians of Bristol Jazz scene Worm Soundsystem and Admin, Sam Bhok and friends filling the decks.

Tim Manville, Festival Director of Farmfest says “Farmfest is back this year with the same monstrous diversity of music and arts as always! After 15 years we’re so bloody proud of what it has evolved into. The last few years have taught us how fragile life can be and so we’re throwing everything we have at making Farmfest 2022 the best show ever. We would like to personally thank all those that have supported us over the years, especially in 2021, and tell you with some confidence that this year is not to be missed!”

The kids will have access to a monster sandpit kitted out with buckets, spades and giant boats for them to play on. There’ll be morning workouts, loads of inflatables, massive slip and slides, and general fun.

Farmfest is a festival dedicated to the idea that the best things in life are found in small packages. Over the course of its 15-year history, it's always been about good music, good causes, and good times. This has naturally resulted in a bubbling mix of unbridled festival revelry and humming party ferocity. This is not a show to be missed.
